People are always commenting on my show photos.
They say, “You’re ALWAYS smiling!!”
Even when things are going WRONG!!
When I was a teenager an adult ammie told me, “We may not do well, but by golly we’re going to have some good photos.”
I definitely think there is something to that theory.
The way I figure, in a few years…. or more likely next week, no one will remember who won,
or who lost………
No one will remember who was scary………..
or who rode beautifully……….
In the end, it’s all about having fun………

Don’t forget to support your show photographers! We will miss them terribly if they stop being there for us!

Love it! I rode in two clinics with Christian Schacht (German trainer) this past year, and he insisted that we smile for at least ten consecutive seconds (even if we didn't feel like smiling). He said that smiling relaxes the body which results in a better ride. While riding in a lesson today, I had to make myself stop and smile as I realized that I was nearly glaring while concentrating. You have a beautiful smile that may well be natural, but it might also have developed through a lot of practice. :0)
Ah, yes! Smiling changes your breathing, your attitude, and makes your horse relax. It's magic!
Everytime I show, I get similar comments. "You're always smiling! You look like you're having so much fun, even if your horse is naughty!"
It's easy for me to smile. Even if my horse is naughty, or not perfect, or whatever, I am thrilled just to have the opportunity to be there, and I am having fun! I really hope my pony is having as much fun as I am… 😉
I LOVE your smile in all of these. And it's such a good philosophy to live by. Amazing photos, all.
Love the shot where you're both smiling! Great post. 😀
Love all the photos – wish i could remember to smile!
I always have a face like a slapped ar$e – my concentration face forgets to smile!
I should probably practice – although I've no plans to go competing so I'll just practice riding in the arenas and hacking in the woods near the yard smiling away to myself…worst that can happen is my being committed right? 😉
