Bad Eventer’s continuing adventure to The Fork. See Part 1 & Part 2
Thursday arrived and I signed up for “permission” to jump. This was the jump school I was dreading.
When I arrived at the XC warm up field (the only one available) I was the only rider.
But the ambulance and TD were there waiting for me.
I guess they knew I was “The Bad Eventer”.
After our near total failure to jump on Tuesday, I pulled out all the stops.
I even put “the magic saddle” on him.
This is a new saddle I bought recently for the Zebrasaurus. I decided that it might fit TheWonderPony better than his old saddle and perhaps he’d “feel” more like jumping. Why not? It couldn’t really get any worse.
I was also determined NOT to stop at any fences in front of the fearless leader, the TD, and the medics.
I’m not sure what the magical ingredient was but he jumped everything brilliantly.
But there was one MASSIVE teensy tiny problem with this plan.
This is a super horse.
This was his 70th recognized event. He is an unbelievable cross country horse, with a perfect record. He knows after cross country warm up he’s headed to the start box.
To my horror, the dressage ring was right next to the XC warm up.
When we headed into the dressage ring, the WonderPony did not have 20 meter circles on the brain. He was actually looking over at the XC the entire test.
Yep, Bad Eventer hauled 10 hours & competed at The Fork to put in the worst dressage test of our career.
Frankly, I’m just glad we stayed in the ring!
To be continued……………………….
But on the plus side you were able to jump him clean. He’s so adorable in that photo- ‘look fences! That will be much more fun, let’s ditch this dressage ring and go play!’
