our 1st FEI event – Spring 2013
was not short…….. or easy…………
It wasn’t quick……
or dry……..
or at times…..very much fun……….
It was trying…….
and sometimes terrifying……..
But no matter what…..
Bad Eventer doesn’t quit…..
or chicken out……
(I lost soooo much sleep over this bounce!!)
I’ve had some time lately to think about where I’ve come from…..

I think it’s good to sit down once in awhile and evaluate your goals.

To think about bigger picture items like bucket lists, and dreams, and ponder if you need to change your plan.
I often wonder if it’s completely outrageous to think I might jump around a 4 star someday.
But recently I was riding my new 5 year old……
who is VERY green.
I was approaching a super looky new jump and when I felt a tiny hint of hesitation…..
in a drastic change from a couple years ago……

Bad Eventer sat, kicked, and….. got it done.
I felt my new pony immediately get braver and more confident.
I may not be Phillip Dutton……..
but the goal has not changed………and I’m going to keep kicking on.

Dear Bad Eventer.
I'm so thankful I found your blog – I hope to one day soon be an eventer who has many stories to tell about being a "bad" eventer. I know it's hard, and I just turned 30, but I really want to be out there too. Thanks for being vulnerable to the rest of us!
