Years ago I read a book called Horse Feathers Fact versus Myths about your horse’s health.
It presented some common ideas about horses that the author felt were untrue.
I remember agreeing with a few chapters and strongly disagreeing with one or two.
But I thoroughly enjoyed the thought process………..
So here it goes:
Horse Feathers by Bad Eventer…… Fact versus Myths about Eventing.
Chapter 1
Position is important. Fact versus myth.
Yep.
My riding instructors, past and present, are all firing me as a student about now.
But here’s what I see.
Riding is nothing more than the act of not falling off. Right?
How about this one??
Riding well, and especially in cross country situations
often involves some unconventional
moves.
As much as I’ve been told that keeping your heels down…..
and that entire shoulder, hip, heel line……………………..
will keep you on the horse……………..
I can attest
that it
absolutely does not.
Yet, I’ve seen
this
and this
and guess what?
These people are some of the best eventers in the world.
Riding Position?
Bad Eventer says – Fiction
Why do we have to make it so hard? Keep the horse between your ass and the ground. Easy peezy, ya right.
You know who I can't believe manages to stay on a horse? Richard Spooner. Successful international jumper, but I honestly don't understand how he stays on. Physics certainly isn't on his side… and if you don't believe me, take a look at this:
