The Critics

I’ve never cared what anyone thought about me.

My fashion sense at its best.

loved those leg warmers………..

My entire life, I’ve had “marching to a different drummer” down to a science.

I was even voted “Most Individual” my senior year of high school. That’s just a nice way to say, THE WEIRDEST person in our class.

I’m not going to lie. I was proud. And while I take great joy in making fun of my failings………….

Yes, yes I really AM Bad Eventer.

I GET that I’m bad at eventing. No. I don’t just get that.

I  OWN  THAT.

But……. there is still something about unsolicited advice or mean comments about my riding that raises my blood pressure.

It really doesn’t cost anything to be nice to each other. And I pay top dollar for expert instruction. I don’t need free advice on the internet from…………let’s just say……..people with questionable qualifications………

Why is it that some equestrians go out of their way to be mean to other equestrians?

And while I actually do have some photos where it looks like I MIGHT know what I’m doing…………

That’s just not funny.

This one though………………..

My rider is Bad Eventer and my name is WonderPony.

I think in general…….. people take themselves FAR too seriously……..

and in order not to go down that path, I take a good hard laugh at myself on a regular basis.

Have you seen the video I made about the glue on shoe? If not, at least watch the blooper reel, totally worth it……………..Bad Eventer and the Glue on Shoe

Occasionally when some stranger gets under my skin with a rude comment…………..

my best friend reminds me <insert scolding tone of voice indicating that I should know better> “if you’re going to put things on the Internet….. you’re asking for trouble……………….”

So while I may rant about it briefly……..I then remind myself that they have no idea what they’re talking about……….. and I go right back to not caring what ANYONE thinks.

Yep! Anyone who thinks you don't know what you're doing (most of the time) is obviously an idiot. :0)

Continue to entertain us, please. I personally love the wacko photos. They make me feel immensely better about my own riding. :0)

I think human nature is to have opinions- whether qualified or not. The internet now gives them free rein (pardon the pun) but I've had unsolicited advice at clinics, shows etc. It's hard to not react to them. I love your posts and that you don't try to put yourself out there as perfect but show all the struggles that we have with horses.

You are an inspiration to me too. It's your humility and understanding and honesty that is incredibly relieving – it's encouragement for me to get out there and do it. I'm not going to do it for others, I'm going to do it for myself – and that's the most important thing. Anyway, I always look forward to your insights/posts.

You could have stopped this post after the first line and first photo and just left it at that! 😀
    We love you, (not-so)Bad Eventer!
