Red Numbers

I wasn’t really worried about my dressage test………

I was mostly just worried about forgetting it………..

For some reason, every time I went through the test in my mind I would get to a move like oh say….. haunches in and then forget what was next……

I was imaging myself turning the corner in the arena, thinking OH NO!!!! What’s next????!!!!!

Fortunately that didn’t happen.

I was so happy I wasn’t riding Prelim B I let my enthusiasm get a little Bad Eventer-ish and we had one lovely and completely uncalled for flying lead change during our counter canter……

It’s ok though, we’re just practicing for Rolex…..

Really.

When I saw the stadium…………….

I started saying things like, “Wow, they look small………”

“What on earth have I been jumping at home ’cause these are nothing…….”

“No worries, we’ve got this………….”

After I spent the morning vomiting………. and we survived stadium……………

with no stops and no smashing fences to the ground……….

I finally admitted………….

that they were the BIGGEST FREAKING JUMPS I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE AND THEY HAD SCARED THE ABSOLUTE HELL OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m super glad stadium was on the first day, because I’m pretty sure I wasn’t going to EAT or SLEEP until I had it out of the way.

Survival was definitely the name of the game.

I had set my goals for the weekend pretty early on.

Bad Eventer’s Goals…..

1. Finish with a number not a letter.

2. And don’t blow my airvest, by falling or stupidity…..(see Puff the Magic Dragon for more on stupidity.)

These were pretty lofty goals for………. Bad Eventer……….

My new coach was not very impressed with my aspirations, but decided to humor me  having not known Bad Eventer for very long.

Cross country was the last day.

The chant for the day became “Red Numbers, whoop whoop!!”

And Bad Eventer found herself with a rather large cheering section.

No Pressure.

Warm up was a bit exciting…….. as is standard for Bad Eventer……….

but once we left the start box…………

it was on.

And I think it was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.

Bad Eventer finished with a number……

and a qualifying score…….

and a ribbon.

Red Numbers…….Whoop!! Whoop!!

Congrads on the number, the qualifying score, and the ribbon.

But mostly congrads because you had fun! Except for the vomiting part, I suppose.
