Losing it at Nemo

I have a superstar horse.

He is an experienced, solid, brave Wonder Pony.

A rock star that has never had a jump penalty on cross country. 

Ever.

Only Bad Eventer can take a horse like that and almost have a stop.

We were slowly crawling cooking around at Prelim.

We jumped the horrifying corner that had cost me all of my potential sleep the night before.

We made easy work of the Coffin that caused one horse to retire and some very ugly moments for others…..

We leaped the Ditch and Brush right out of stride…..

We jumped easily into the first water, which had a rather difficult approach.

We were 3 from home when it happened………..

It was the second water. We had done all the difficult questions.

The jump in was TINY and straight forward.

In true Bad Eventer fashion, I was not concerned.

So………………..

as we were running sideways passed the jump, all I could think was that only Bad Eventer
can take a horse with a perfect record and screw it up at the ………………….

SMALLEST jump on the freaking course!!!

In that moment, I became determined to clear that jump no matter what…………….

and we jumped it………….

pretty much……………

sideways.

I will no longer think of Nemo fondly

or take the small jumps for granted.
